The mechanical converter from the engine from the microwave

The converter that will be discussed does not contain a single radio element. Built exclusively on two electric motors, one of which was taken from a microwave. The conversion principle is very simple: direct current is supplied to the low-voltage motor. This motor rotates a high-voltage motor (acting as a generator), as a result, it outputs an alternating voltage of up to 500 V.

Will need

• Plexiglass stand.
• Clamping terminals.
• Wires.
• Engine 12-24 V.
• Motor from the microwave (used to rotate the dish).

As you can see, the microwave engine is designed for a voltage of 250 V, its power is 4 watts. These are of course consumable values. If we use it as a generator, then the readings will differ slightly, more precisely, will depend on the frequency of its rotation.

Manufacture of a high voltage converter

The microwave motor also contains a gearbox that needs to be removed. We bend the bent clamps, take out the gearbox along with the permanent magnet rotor.
This rotor must be put on the drive shaft.
We fix everything on a plexiglass stand so that the axis of the motors are in the same plane without distortion. We connect wires, we connect terminals for convenient connection.

Test

We apply 24 V DC to the low-voltage motor (maximum for it). As you can see, at idle the generator generates more than 300 V. It reaches 500, if you slightly increase the speed by raising the voltage.
Now we look under load, in the role of which a 220 V LED lamp with a power of 5 W is used.
As you can see, the voltage subsided substantially, almost 3 times.
The host engine consumes 0.2 A at a voltage of 24 V, i.e. a power consumption of 4.8 watts. But there is no such power at the output, it is much lower. This suggests that the converter itself has a low efficiency.

Application

In principle, it is always there. For example, if you take a 12 V motor, and use the charge from a cell phone as the load, you can easily charge a cell phone with a battery.
