Sometimes in the process of working in a workshop, garage or cottage, a metal fastening clamp is required to secure, for example, some part. But what if there is no suitable clamp at hand?
In this case, you can make the clamp yourself. But first, you need to make a simple device with which you can give the metal billet the desired shape.
To do this, you will need a small wooden block and two studs with nuts. Instead of studs, you can use long bolts.
The main stages of work
The author makes a marking on a wooden bar, and then cuts two blanks (a matrix and a punch) on a band saw. They will need to be sanded on a grinder or conventional manual grinding.
Then, at the edges of the two blanks, it will be necessary to drill one hole for the studs. We insert bolts or studs into the holes, and the home-made device is ready.
To make a clamp, it is necessary to put a strip of metal between the two parts of the fixture (matrix and punch), bending it a little, and then fix the fixture in a vise and squeeze it.
