Making a do-it-yourself coffee table for a private home or summer house is as simple as that, and for this you will need the most ordinary materials: metal and wood, which are in perfect harmony with each other.
First of all, it will be necessary to saw off two boards with a thickness of 50 mm, from which the countertop of the future coffee table will be made.
The master skips first aligns the plane of the workpieces on the thicknessing machine, and then passes the sides of the boards with a manual electric plane. In principle, both of these operations can be performed on the planer.
The main stages of work
In the next step, it will be necessary to cut into size wide strips of metal. Of these, the author welds two U-shaped blanks. Welds must be cleaned with a flap wheel for an angle grinder.
Next, you need to glue two boards, after gluing - grind so that the outer (front) side is even. After that, the author connects the U-shaped blanks with the countertop, and welds one more strip below (directly under the boards) - these will be the shelves on which the countertop will rest.
You will also need to weld two strips to the bottom of the legs - and in the end you get closed rectangular frames.
Then it remains only to burn the surface of the wood with a gas burner (for a more aesthetic appearance) and cover it with colorless varnish or mineral oil.
