It often happens that the handle on the saw breaks (for various reasons). Moreover, the tool itself is still quite suitable for work. Do not buy a new saw because of this? It’s much easier to make a simple handle made of wood or plywood for a hacksaw.

First of all, you need to draw the pen itself - you can draw it by hand or download the template from some website. Please note that the handle can be straight and also be angled with respect to the saw blade. Which of these options to choose is up to you.

After you have decided on the shape of the hacksaw handle, we cut the workpiece on a band saw or using an electric jigsaw. If you use wood, it is better to choose a hornbeam, oak or beech (that is, fairly hard wood).

The main stages of work

First, we drill through holes in a tree or plywood for fastening, draw the contours of the handle on the workpiece, and then only cut it out. In principle, holes can already be drilled in place when the handle is already cut. In total, 2 identical blanks are required, which we join together.

Then it remains only to process the “newly made” pen with sandpaper or using a drill. If desired, you can cover it with colorless varnish, mineral oil, or an ordinary stain.
