Homemade carpentry clamps made of solid wood (ash or other) are an integral part of carpentry. They are used for fixing various wooden blanks or plastic products in the gluing process.
In the home workshop, such home-made clamps will not be superfluous. To make them, you will need a solid breed of wood: ash, birch, hornbeam or oak. If there is no solid dry wood at hand, then you can make plywood clips.
The shape of the manual clamps can be copied from the factory “clothespins”. First, we outline the contours on paper, then cut out the finished template with scissors, and transfer it to the surface of the wooden blank. Using a jigsaw you need to cut two halves of the clamp.
The main stages of work
From a sheet of sheet metal with a thickness of 3-4 mm, we cut out the plates, which are bent in a vice at a right angle. We weld two washers to one of the shelves of the resulting corner. Then we drill three through holes. After that, we fasten these parts to the halves of the clamp.
From a steel wire of a suitable diameter, springs must be made, as on a regular clothespin. Then we install a spring between the halves of the manual clamp, and fix it with a "finger" from a steel bar. We make clamping jaws from pieces of a plate. Moreover, they can be made mobile.
