In the home workshop or garage, the sharpening machine must be present "by default." But what to do if it is not possible to buy a machine or get an engine suitable for its manufacture?
In this situation, a simple grinding machine can even be made from a low-power electric motor. After all, getting it is usually much easier. Also, for this homemade product, you will need some other materials that can be found both in the workshop and in the garage without problems.
The first step is to prepare the foundation. A piece of plywood or OSB with a thickness of at least 20 mm is quite suitable for this. Glue a sheet of metal with a thickness of about 1-2 mm on top. Press with clamps and leave to dry glue.
The main stages of work
In addition to the base on which the engine will be located, it will also be necessary to make a stand out of plywood under the shaft with bearings. We also glue a piece of sheet metal on top of it.
Next, we make markings and drill holes in the base for mounting for an electric motor. We also mark the place for installing a wooden stand on which the working shaft will be fixed.
At the last stage, we connect the electric motor and the working shaft to the pulley using a tension belt. Then we attach the power button to the stand. For a detailed assembly process of a grinding machine from a low-power electric motor, see the video on the website.
