Using a home-made ignition spark tester for a car engine, you can determine a malfunction in the ignition system. To make this device you will need a regular 10 ml medical syringe, as well as a screw with an M4 nut and a piece of copper wire.
On the one hand, such express diagnostics at home will allow you to check the operation of the ignition module and the integrity of the spark plug wire. But, on the other hand, such a homemade tester can burn the module itself.
Therefore, before applying this method in practice, it will not be superfluous to study this issue in more detail. For example, some car manufacturers strongly discourage the removal of tips from spark plugs while the engine is running.
The main stages of work
From a 10 ml medical syringe, a nose must be cut off. Next, you need to pull out the piston and insert a long screw with a diameter of 4 mm along with a makeshift washer of fluoroplastic or other similar material.
From the outside, put a regular steel washer on the screw stud and tighten it with a nut. We put a heat-shrink tube on the threaded part, and heat it with a lighter. After that, you will need to unscrew the tip on the spark plug of the car and screw it onto the rest of the screw.
At the next stage, five holes must be drilled in the piston of the syringe: four in the piston and one in the rod stop. Moreover, three of the four holes drilled in the piston must be blind.
Now we insert the end of the copper wire (it must first be tinned) into the piston of the syringe, and fix it with quick-drying and hot-melt adhesive. We insert the piston rod into the syringe, and the homemade product is ready for use.
