As one famous playwright said, the theater begins with a hanger. However, not only the theater - hallways in apartments and private houses, too. An original handmade wall-mounted clothes hanger with a top shelf made by yourself will make the entrance hall more functional and the interior expressive and attractive.

If you show a little imagination, then a hanger with a shelf can be made not a banal interior accessory, but a real work of art. And for this you will need simple and affordable materials, a standard set of wizard tools, as well as a little patience. A couple of hours of work - and you will become the owner of a unique thing.

Step-by-step process for making a hanger with a shelf

A piece of wood is used as the main material (it is better from walnut, but you can also take other types of wood - at your discretion). Cut the workpiece to size, end the edges and level the surface on the planer. Then you need to cut one side on a circular saw at a right angle.

At the last stage of machining, the workpiece is passed through a thicknesser. We expand the crack on the front side with a chisel with a hammer, after which we mix the epoxy resin with the hardener and fill this hole. After the resin has dried, the workpiece must again be passed through the thicknesser, and then sanded.

Next, a shelf hanger is made. The board is cut to size and ground - here it is important to try to maintain the natural curvature of the workpiece. So it will look much more attractive. After that, the two halves are connected to each other, hooks for clothes and fastenings are screwed. The surface is coated with mineral oil or varnish.
