Homemade blacksmith forge, made with your own hands from a small propane cylinder, is very compact in size, and therefore ideal for a home workshop. With the help of this hearth you can make castings from various low-melting metals, heat up steel billets red-hot, and also engage in art forging and blacksmithing.
First of all, it is necessary to cut off the upper and then the lower part of the propane cylinder with a grinder or a cutter. To completely degass it, open the valve and bleed the gas. Next, unscrew the valve, fill it with water, and then drain it. This must be done, otherwise even the slightest spark can lead to an explosion.

We weld a channel section to the side of the casing, and on top two profile pipes of square section. They should be perpendicular. In the central part of the propane cylinder, using a angle grinder or drill, cut a small round hole. We process the edges with a file to remove burrs.
Next, we turn a ceramic blanket into a multilayer roll and place it inside a gas cylinder. After that, we insert a plastic pipe into the container (vertically), and into it through a side hole in the body - a tube of a smaller diameter. We fill the free space between the pipe itself and the ceramic blanket with a special mortar based on heat-resistant cement.
Then we remove the plastic pipes and clean the surface of the cylinder with a grinder. We insert the nozzle of the gas burner into the steel pipe, which enters the side hole in the housing, while it must be securely fixed. This will prevent the burner from moving during operation.
