In this review, the author shows how to make a useful garage appliance with your own hands - a clip-clipper (it is often called a piston puller). The basis is an old screwdriver.
With this homemade tool, you can remove the clip-on caps from the door trim or other parts of the car.
It is not necessary to use a screwdriver for this homemade screwdriver specifically, you can take a flat one, the tip will still need to be cut off.
The main stages of work
First of all, it is necessary to heat the end of the screwdriver in the furnace, and then flatten it on the anvil, giving it a shape, like a nail clipper. Then heat the screwdriver again and make two bends at the end.
To prevent the plastic handle on the screwdriver from burning out during heating and forging, the author wrapped a piece of wet rag on it.
We clamp the screwdriver in a vice and with the help of a grinder it will be necessary to make a slot of a triangular shape. The inside edges must be filed.
If there is no old screwdriver, the clip-clipper can be made of steel bar, and the handle can be made of wood.
