To replace or remove a two-blade lawn mower knife for subsequent sharpening, most often use a wooden block or a piece of board, one edge of which is pressed into the ground, and the knife itself is jammed with the other, thereby blocking the shaft from rotation. However, there is a much simpler and safer way.

And for this you will need to make a homemade device for fixing the shaft of the engine of the lawn mower. Of the basic materials you will need: a steel plate 10 mm thick, a stud with a nut, narrow strips of metal and a rod. All of these materials are almost always at hand.

The main stages of work

First you need to drill a through hole in the center of the plate, and cut a thread into it for the diameter of the stud. Next, bend four strips of metal at an angle of 90 degrees. We weld two of the blanks to the plate, and the remaining two to the previously welded strips, and additionally connect them using another strip.

We weld a metal rod to the end of the stud so that it is more convenient to unscrew and twist the fixture. We clean the resulting structure with a grinder, after which we cover it with 1-2 layers of spray paint. We cut the hairpin to size and screw it into the hole in the plate, putting on the nut first. The fixture is now ready for use.

We turn the lawn mower on its side, block the cutting knife of the lawn mower and fix the frame of the homemade device to the body due to the rotation of the stud. See the video on the site for a step-by-step process of manufacturing and assembling this design.
