Such a home-made clamp is useful when you need to glue wooden panels, doors, frames, countertops and other large parts or products that are "too tough" with ordinary quick-clamp and screw joiner's clamps. Also, with the help of this homemade product, it is possible to securely fix plywood or OSB sheets for processing end parts.
It’s not difficult to make vime clamps with your own hands even for a novice master, and this will require simple materials that are almost always at hand. The base of the clamp clamps is made of wooden blocks, bolts and nuts will also be required.
The process of making clamps for gluing wood
First you need to make the foundation of the wyme clamp. To do this, take a wooden block of suitable length, mark it in the center, and then drill the required number of holes with the same pitch - there should be the same distance between them (for example, 5, 10 or 20 cm).
Next, you need to cut three cubes from another bar, which will be attached to the base of the clamp. In the first cube we drill a hole with a pen drill, and then we press a nut of suitable diameter into it (for reliability, it is better to "put" it on the glue). We fix the guide cube with the nut to one of the sides of the base.
The second cube will be clamped - in it you need to make a recess for the stud or bolt. The third cube serves as the stop of the clamp, and it must be easily removable so that you can adapt to the specific size of the workpiece. We drill a through hole in it and insert a bolt of suitable length. See the video on the site for the steps of assembling a homemade wedge clamp for gluing wood blanks.
